There's something about finding a product that is super affordable and actually works that makes me all giddy inside! Case in point, e.l.f.'s Studio Lip Exfoliator!
Ages ago I was using The Body Shop's Lip Scuff but at that time I was so young, it was more of a luxury purchase than a necessity. More recently I have tried DIY lip scrubs and more expensive ones, which I talk about in this review. I don't have terribly dry lips, but I still require the routine exfoliation, especially when taking close up photos for the blog.
I randomly came across e.l.f.'s Studio Lip Exfoliator a few months back at Target and thought I would give it a try since it was only $3. I loved that it was in a lipstick package, which is very reminiscent of The Body Shop's Lip Scuff that I had used literally over 12 years ago.
What I love about this type of packaging compared to the typical lip scrub in a jar is:
1. You don't have to stick your fingers in anything (hello...germ central)
2. It's less messy because you just apply it like lipstick instead of having the scrub going all over the place when you apply it with your fingers
3. Super compact for travel
In addition to the packaging and ease of use of this product, what I really like is how exfoliating this product is. After the first use, the sugar crystals really come through and they are much rougher than any other scrub I have tried. I think for some people this could be off putting because it can be almost too abrasive but I love it. I think it does an amazing job at really getting off any dried skin on the lips and the Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Jojoba, and Grape Seed Oil do a nice job of leaving your lips conditioned afterwards.
The instructions say to use this product on damp lips, which will make the product less abrasive. I however almost always use this on dry lips and I love how effective this product is. You just massage the product in small circles and then wipe off with a damp cotton pad or cloth. I'll follow up with my fav lip balm, Soap & Glory Balm, and viola, my lips are ready for any lip product! As of right now, this is Holy Grail worthy!
The scrub itself smells like brown sugar and it tastes like it too (it's not marketed as edible but I have licked it off before...whoops!).
I think this is another gem from e.l.f. that rivals other more expensive products on the market. I will continue to use this product because it's more effective than the others of tried, it's easier to use, and it's only $3!!! *Happy Dance!*
If you are in the market for a lip scrub, I definitely recommend this one! Now is a great time to try it as well because e.l.f. is having a 50% Off Summer Essentials Sale on select products when you spend $20+ with the code GLOW now through July 1st!
This lip exfoliator for $1.50? I don't think it gets much better than that!

I need to try this. I use Lush Bon Bon right now and I don't mind having to use my fingers but I would prefer something like this (in tube form) and haven't found one I've liked yet.
ReplyDeleteI used to not mind using my fingers as well but when my nails started growing out, I hated how the product would get underneath my nails. I hope you like this product as much as I do!
DeleteI have been using this exfoliator for a week or so now, and I am super impressed. It does what it's supposed to and the smell/taste is really great. I almost bought this for $5 at Urban Outfitters, but then found it for $3 at Target. I also like the weight and quality of the case.
ReplyDeleteYes! It's such a great and affordable product! :) I try to stay away from buying any make up at Urban because the prices are almost always higher :/
