Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser

If you aren't familiar with the brand Suki, than we are in the same boat my friend.

The last time I ever saw the letters s-u-k-i together, it was the first part of that awesome love ballad song Sukiyaki by 4 P.M. Any 80's babies in the house?! I love that song! #noshame

Anyways...

I received a sample of this cleanser in my July Birchbox and it couldn't have come at a better time because I had just run out my exfoliator. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I had just run out, I probably wouldn't have tried this product for awhile. I already threw away the sample packaging, but it was very "homemade" looking. Usually when I have samples of brands that are completely unknown to me, in a no frills, homemade kind of packaging, I tend to be a bit apprehensive about trying them out. Is that just me?

When I first opened up the jar, I noticed the scent. AH-MA-ZING! If you like lemon scented products, then you will love the way this smells. It's not too artificial, just fresh lemony goodness!

Upon first glance, the cleanser looks like any other sugar scrub. What's so cool though, is the scrub actually turns into a foam consistency. To use this scrub, you actually wet your hands first and then massage the product in your palms to start building up a lather. It feels so great on the skin and although the product is turning into a foam as you massage it over your face, you can still feel the sugar crystals gently exfoliating your skin.

When I rinsed the cleanser off, my skin would feel almost squeaky clean to the touch but it didn't feel tight (I hope that makes some sort of sense). I think it's the essential oils that make it feel likes there's something on your skin for a moment as you are rinsing off the cleanser. Eitherway, my skin did not feel tight at all but rather very soft.

I used the cleanser every morning and sometimes twice a day. My skin isn't really sensitive but it is acne prone and I had no issues at all. In fact, I used this everyday for about 2 weeks and my skin looked so much better! I noticed I had less break outs (if any at all), redness reduced, skin was softer, and overall just brighter skin. Hallelujah! A new skincare product to love!

The only negative is the packaging. It comes in a glass jar which I do like but it is quite heavy, so it's not ideal for travel and I would be careful when using this in the shower. I also hate any product in a jar just for sanitary reasons, but that's a never ending battle for another day.

Despite the whole jar "issue", I loved the way this performed so much that I did end up buying the full size from Birchbox. It is on the pricier side at $32.95, but you do get 4oz. and I do think it's effective if you have sensitive or acne prone skin. You also don't need much because it lathers so well. I would say a little over a dime size amount is enough for the whole face. If you are already a Birchbox member and have points to spare, I highly recommend trying this out!

For all the ingredients and details of this product, I recommend checking out Suki's website.
